Hughes Net Sucks!

I subscribed to HughesNet satellite direct Internet. It was DirecWay Internet. I've had it for about a month now and it's the biggest piece of crap I've ever had since I've been on-line. Bob has been on line since the days of Commodore computers and 300 baud bulletin boards. Bob has seen the good and the bad, and Hughes satellite direct Internet service is expensive crapola. About 1 day out of 2 it goes off-line and stays off line for hours. Their "technical support" phone number gives you an endless recording recommending their on-line support web site, which you can't access since their crap Internet service is down. Every other company I've dealt with at least would talk to their customers, and some of them actually have technical support available. For example, I subscribed to Comcast cable Internet for several years. Their service only went out about once a year, and when I messed something up their technical support was always available for help. Not with HughesNet crap. So fare I've never been able to talk to a live support person, and by now she doesn't want to hear the things I would tell her about how crappy their lack of service has been. As a company, HughesNet makes AOL seem like heaven. I wish we still lived where Comcast serves. HughesNet (DirecWay) has got to be the worst company I've ever tried to deal with. They don't provide the service they promise, and they won't talk to their customers.

Does anyone have a software that will phone their number every 15 seconds? I'd love to call their "customer assistance" line a few hundred thousand times. I'm liable to pack the whole dish up and give it back to them and tell them to sue me. They have failed utterly to provide the service they promised.

Yea hughes net sucke. When I sighned up for the service they said you can buy the equipment up front of pay a monthly fee to lease the equipment. I bought the eqipment so I wouldn't be obligated. I just went to cancel and now they are saying there is a 15 month commitment. That is BS< I wonder why they have the commitment. Because when you get fed up with their service and quit they want more money. Even know the service sucks.

Yup, had the same problem. I asked the same question and was told that if I bought the gear that I would not have to pay a disconnect fee and would have no contract.

WRONG!!!
They want $300 which I am not about to pay.

I hope someone sues the socks off of them!

Yeah! and that's only the beginning of how bad they suck too. Let's not foget their stupid FAP policy which only allow's you to download 200MB a day, and if you exceed that they cut your speed down to dial up speed for 24 hours. Do you see cable or DSL doing this crap? No! you don't. The only reason why I still have there sevice is because there isn't any other broadband provider in my area yet, but when there is it's GOOD BYE HUGHES AND GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!

It sucks! It sucks big time!
I have upgraded my service to 375 MB of download limit and they cut me off yesterday claiming I have downloaded 400MB in one hour. I wasn't even home! Tech support sits somewhere in Asia and didn't give a shit about my complaint. Why would they.
I have tried to talk to a live person in the US, but their corporate office would not accept any calls.
This is a bunch of bull%&%$t!
If I had another chance to get hi-speed Internet where I live I would crush this stupid equipment with my tractor bucket and bury it six feet under with my back-hoe!

They are totally not providing the service they promise. I called and asked for their corporate attorney's contact info and was told that THEY DON'T HAVE A LEGAL DEPARTMENT!! Such a blatant and obvious lie...even ice cream parlor chains and toy stores have a legal department.

Utter utter garbage! their tech department know absolutely nothing, just some Indian working for $2 an hour!

I make a note of all the downloads/uploads I do, I hit their "FAP" one day, I called them, they said "you know what the FAP is and how it works?" blah blah, Of course I do, I have 6 years of damn college!! I have a masters degree in IT, course I told them this, they completely inored me and still blabbed on about something they knew absolutely nothing about.
Then last week, after the rain, it stays off for 12 hours, and again the same tonight.
They claim to have a "tech" coming out to see to the dish and modem
When I absolutely know they are over crowding their beam, and providing absolutel garbage for the ridiculous amount paid.
I live way out on the sticks,, if I didnt, this would be gone! forever!!
its absolute trash!!!

It looks like enough of us to start getting something done about Hughesnet. Obiously they are in control right now as there aren't any alternatives for us. Like Anonymous said, as soon as something else comes along I am out of here with Hughesnet. They are sure one of the dumbest companies in corporate america and that is saying a lot when you have companies like Exxon, Microsoft, and Dell to be measured against.

Yup,
Direcway does suck! I just upgraded to the 7000 from the 6000 modem and added the Pro Plus package. It is just about as slow as the home package for $15 more per month. I wish there was another option.
The day Comcast is available at my house, I will have a party involving the smashing of the Hughsnet JUNK!! You SUCK Hughsnet!!

You bunch of whinning bitches.
You know what you got into when you bought it.
15 month contract is standard, its the form you signed when it was installed, if you did not read that, well thats your fault.
FAP limit was also there when you signed, whaa whaa whaa....

I also have the same piece of shit you all have, some days like right now, I would love to put the receiver out of the fucking window, some days it is not so bad.

I average around 120 Kps down and about 10 Kbs up, I do more uploading then downloading so that sucks for me.

In general the whole system sucks, and I do not like talking to towelheads that don't know shit.

But hughes net is owned by towel heads, so what do you expect.

No, Hughes Net does not provide what they promise. Over time their system automatically slows your service, puts you onto lower and lower levels. When mine finally got down to about 20k I spent 3 houres on their "help" phone line. First an hour and a half with some idiot in India who hardly speaks English, and who has no clue how Hughesnet works. Then he let me talk to "level 2." An hour with that idiot who had me doing speed tests, etc, didn't help because he was only authorized to tell me that it was my own problem. Finally, after I complained loudely that I was going to rip their lying weasle service out and never come back he let me talk to "level 3." After 3 hours I actually got to talk to someone who knows how their system works and what they are doing to the customers. I complained loudely to him, and he was able to reset my account to the initial speed setting.

Now I's starting to slow down again. Hughes LIES when they make promises of speeds. They deliberatly cut the speed after initial period. They know we are out away from cable or other high speed options, and they can screw us at will.

Oh, and their FAP limit was cut down after I signed up. Lying scum bastards. When something else becomes available I'm outa there fast.

How can they get away with claiming they are hi-speed Internet? Most of the time it's right down there with dial-up or maybe twice as fast as dial-up at most. I can't do video, streaming audio, or load large graphics. One thing with them being so slow, I don't have to worry about exceeding the FAP policy. It's junk and they know it and don't care.

I don't know how this company can even be in business! I had cable internet...getting about 6-9 Mbps download speeds, for around $40 a month, then moved out into the country. Given the success of Mr. Hughes in the past, I just assumed this would be the way to go for satellite internet. WHAT A MISTAKE! There's no way he would put up with the company running things like this.

First, they lead you to believe that for $140 a month (almost 4x what I was paying with cable) you get 1500 kbps download. But they use the magical words "up to". I've rarely ever received over 1200 kbps, and MOSTLY under 1000 kbps. But never close to 1500 kbps. This is on a dish that is capable of something like 2000 kbps...so the speeds aren't limited by the hardware here. I see no reason I shouldn't be getting the full 1500 kbps ALL THE TIME! I believe they just use the excuse of "shared bandwith" to keep their costs down, so they can pay less for their satellite usage or something.

Next, you can't watch any kind of live video feed. I just started watching one for the first time...remember, on a $140 per month business plan...and they shut me down to a crawl, saying I exceeded the allowed amount of data download. I didn't even get to finish the video stream that I had paid for.

It's like they expect you to cancel, because not only do you have to purchase the dish...but there is a huge cancelation fee. If someone is as absolutely unsatisfied with their service as I have been, they should just come get their dish and cancel the plan with no cancelation fee!! You only get a very short window to cancel in, but you haven't really had time to find out what a scam their running until after that time has expired.

SERIOUSLY, DON'T GO WITH HUGHESNET!!! There are other satellite internet providers out there, so look into them. I'm not saying any of them are perfect, but HughesNet is terrible! I'll be contacting the Better Business Burea tomorrow or Monday and will be doing my best to find out if there is a way out of this mess...even if it costs more than their cancelation fee! I don't want to give them a penny more than I have to!

I got out of my Hughesnet contract. I wrote them a letter saying I wouldn't be paying another penny to them due to the fact that they changed their contract concerning FAP times, without their customers knowledge or consent. I also forwarded this same letter to the BBB and state Attorney General's office.

Not only did they cancel my contract at no charge, they sent an installer to take down my system. They fed ex'd me a form to have the system sent back at their expense (you don't send the dish back, just the receiver from the dish) and your modem. They even gave me a refund of the amount I had paid for the equipment. I started with Hughesnet in Dec. 06, and just got this all taken care of this month (July).

I am writing this to let you know that there is hope if you are willing to do the work. My service was ridiculous. I would rather have dialup. My kids couldn't even watch a couple of short YouTube videos with us being
FAP'd. Sorry, but for the price, that's just not right.

Thanks.
Rho

I don't wanna go against anything you all have said but I like hughesnet. I hate the FAP but from 3:00-6:00 AM E/T there is NO Fair Access Policy. Sure they don't tell you about the FAP upfront which is wrong but atleast you have dsl not dial-up. I have a threshold limit of 375.0 Megabytes per 3 hours. which is the middle hughenet plan I pay 110.00 a month which is a little ridiculous but have 1.0 mbps compared to 54.0kbps is like heaven.

August 13, 2007 10:07 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Btw....it's not a limit of 200 Meagabytes "per day" it's per 3 hours. so ina typical day with the lowest plan you can download 1600 megabytes. that's pretty good, oh and 3 hours of taht r unlimited to you can downloaded alot!

Note to Anonymous: Try downloading "Turbo Tax" which is 250 megs. It's not 3 hours, it's NEVER with HughesNet. If you've charged $45 on your card for the download software you're SCREWED!

The FAP isn't the worst of HughesNet. They've oversold their capacity. They arbitrarily start cutting down the speed of older customers. I got down to about 35k before I spent 3 hours ranting to their East Indian nomind "support" idiots before I was allowed to talk to someone who had authority to reset my account.

Their latest trick is a rolling blackout. They cut off some part of Internet access for an hour, then switch it with another part. Yahoo Mail might be cut off this hour, but you can get CNN. Hotmail next hour and Yahoo is back. Other web sites that customers use are handled the same way. The rolling blackout reduces total Internet use because older customers can't access half the net at any one time.

HughesNet is worse than just sucks. They are a fraudulent company that cheats it's customers.

Yea, they suck big time! I just got the service on 07/27/2007, havent had time to complain to them about how slow their service is, because I have been dealing with a billing problem. I took the promotional plan. They was suppose to take $80 out of my bank account and took out $500 instead. after over a week, they appologized and put $420 back in my bank account, but they refuse to pay me back the Bank NSF fees of $245. They say it is their policy not to pay back NSF fees! I will be going back to Dial up, and just let them try and get another dime from me. I contacted the BBB today also.

I dont understand how hughes expects people to live with such a horibble internet. It gets so slow you cant download a simple YouTube video, or even a 31MB podcast. As it is, I have to stay up till 5am to download all of them during these special 3 hours, and for just 15 podcasts that is unacceptable! I can't even play a simple game of Halo 2 on Xbox Live with out haveing it lag to the point where it is just impossible to enjoy. Once Comcast is availible where I live, my Hughes equipment is taking a swim to the bottom of my pool! DOWN WITH HUGHES NET!!!

I had HughesNET (originally DirecWay) since 2001 when I moved out into the sticks.
I didn't have any other option and needed to have an I-net connection to be able to work from home.

Over those 6 years, the service continued to get worse until April of this year. They changed their FAP policy without so much as a peep. All of a sudden the rolling 4 hour windows are gone and the download limit went to 150MB per 24 hours. And if you hit that FAP wall, for the whole next 24 hours my service was SLOWER THAN DIALUP. I'd connect on dialup and it was faster. So, every other day my service was unusable and on the days that it WAS usable, I could only download 125MB... which I usually hit by noon.

I wrote letters and told them if they didn't lift the FAP policy, I was leaving their service as of May 1, 2007.

Well, as I have to say that I am now the happy customer of WildBlue... and funny thing, I get a service credit for my DirecTV service through WildBlue. DirecTV cut DirecWAY loose and are no longer affiliated with them).

WildBlue has 24x7 US technical support. No global resourcing of their help desk to India, so when I call WildBlue, I speak to someone who can speak English.
Sure, it's still satellite i-net, and there are FAPs (rolling 30 day calculations), but it's USABLE!! and it's not HughesNET.

Anything but HughesNET.
HUGHESNET SUCKS. a modem is better than HughesNET.

I'm on dial-up writing this comment because Hughes Net can't load a complete page...even after waiting 10 minutes. This company is boldly lying about their "blazing" speed. DO NOT purchase Hughes Net Internet Service. They do not deliver what they promise. Their customer service number is directed to India where you will spend at least an hour trying to understand their "Customer No Service". They should discontinue their false advertising and refund their customers money for not providing the promised service. I currently spend $65 per month for the Hughes Net contract...not to mention the equipment purchas of $600...and here I am using dial-up. Hughes Net is the biggest rip-off since Al Gore invented this whole internet thing.

He can dowload around 300mb till FAP. Why the difference. A few years ago, direcway was class actioned because of their FAP, is that happening now? I've had nothing but problems with Direcway/Hughesnet. I've had it for about 5 years now.

1)Installer didn't aim for maximum signal strength
2)Installer missed the roof studs when locking down the dish stand...so now all the lag bolts just free spin
3)Steadily decreasing FAP
4)Horrific tech support

If you don't have Cable or DSL...see if you have a wireless solution you can work with. Even getting one of the 3G laptop cards and installing a PCMCIA card reader in your desktop would be better. Try and get one with an external antenna connection though.

Soon we will see more landline based broadband, as well as a lot more WiFi based solutions. Hughesnet is going to die soon and they realize this. They are going to try and get as much money from people over the next few years before their "technology" goes the way of MSDOS and the AS400.

oh my fucking god. Hughesnet has been nothing but a huge nightmare for me from the beginning. heres the story:

I call to order it, cant understant the fucking towel heads, and then I finaly get the order done. Then, believe it or not, they redirect me to a phone sex hotline. Its completely true, and now I have that shit on my bill. Those assholes denied it of course.

Then the guy finally comes to install it a month later, he was delayed be cause his kid died or somehting. I was like wtf to hell with your kid give me some internets! so he gets here and puts the dish on wrong! he goes back, 2 weeks later and puts it on right finally. So while he was putting it on, I was out at homo depot. When i come bac the sat is on the roof and im like "dialup owned in the face" and then i walk into the house and the installer was fucking my goddamn wife! HOLY SHIT. I beat the shit out of both of them and divorced them both to.

So I finally get the service working. It sucks big fat monkey balls. it keeps making my homepage www.mudfall.com, a pron site. its so fucking gross. its slower than a hoe towards the popo to. I download a video cause its aweosme, and my internt completely shuts off. I fucking killed my dog i was so pissed.

then a neighbor complained and I went to jail for 3 years, cause i mudred my dog. In jail i still payed my 60000 dollars a month for hughes. i even fucking told them i said i want to cancel (in jail, you dont get paid). they are like "hello my name is habib and i work in a convientent store. You are gay and cannot quit our service. Goodbye"

So now im out of jail, and i think im going to kill myself because of hughesnet. It ruined my life. They can suck my ballsac DONT GET IT!

Just an address....

If you do a reverse look up on the address (which is good by way)....It comes up non-existant....What are they cloaked....LOL...Star Ship Enterprise of what!

If by some miracle...you do find the phone number....Do a google....it is out there....
A reverse lookup identifies a persons name and residence.....

So I called the number....Presto....HughesNet corporation!...

And yes they are in Germantown MD and have a 301 area code....and a 428 prefix....

I am lucky...Cable is coming to my area after 4 years next month....So if you want a system cheap on EBAY....Look Soon....

And the president was on CNBC lately saying how great things are....What a load of crap....

I too have Hughesnet and I had them when Direcway owned it. After Hughesnet took over they F... the whole thing up. They introduced this FAP crap. It should be called uFAP : the UnFair Access Policy. They are way too expensive and they don't even provide the service and Internet experience that one should know to enjoy. What unfair crap!

Their Tech support absolutely sucks. I can not count the many times my internet went down and was on the phone for hours and days fighting with people who can’t even speak proper English. Their hardware sucks too. With in six months apart I had their third party installers come out to replace the transmitter on the arm of the dish. The first couple of times I had to pay $100 bucks so they could climb up on my roof to access the dish. After that I moved the dish to a pole to avoid the charges knowing that they would be coming out often.

The last time they came out, I was out of my warranty and they charged me $125 dollars to fix my dish. Now the non-speaking English person told me that there would be no addition charges unless the dish was physically damaged and that I was to pay the installer the $125. Well, I knew there was no physical damage. I told him, “I’ll call you back”. A few days later after being without service I became more and more mad but realized that I needed the Internet to get my work done and pay my bills. I do everything online. Anyway, I called back to speak with a different non-speaking English person and they told me the same damn thing. $125 only, no more, paid to the installer. So a week later the installers show up, five hours late, to fix it. It began raining like hell and they had to wait for it to pass before they replaced my transmitter. I paid with a check and my Internet was back, but not for long.

A few days later I checked my CC bill to find out that Hughesnet billed me $125 for the repair. WHAT! I paid the installer with a check; which did get cashed as I did check my online bank. So, now I paid twice for them to fix my service and it continues to run like SH.T! I phoned Hughesnet about the issue and they took over a month to get back to me, only to say that I should have been told that the $125 was going to be charged to my CC account. I lost out all around. I too watch my download and upload usage and last weekend I became FAP-ed for no reason and was not un-FAP-ed for over 45 hours. WHAT is THAT ?! What a way to do business. I felt that all along they wanted me to cancel. Well, they got their wish. This week is the last for the Hughesnet Satellite Internet service.

Now, I live in an area that is far from town and wooded-South New Jersey. No highspeed cable (COMCAST), no DSL(Verizon), no FIOS(Verizon). Dial-up or Satellite? But wait! A new idea! An answer for some people who cannot get any form of highspeed broadband Internet and have turned to Hughesnet. Of course, I agree, they suck those “Monkey Balls” that the other guy was talking about.

Now, if you get cell-phone service in your area, you may be in luck. My new phone, LG-VX9400, has the ability to be used as a modem. For less the what Hughesnet was billing me for with their sh.ty service, Verizon wireless gave me a stronger more reliable and more consistent connection exceeding that of Hughesnet satellite. All you need is just a simple USB cable, installing the software, and connecting the phone to the computer. The computer uses the phone to dial for Internet service and WHA-LA! No FAP crap! And !! Might I add, your Internet goes mobile where you do, for any of you with laptops. They do make aircards too, but I already had a phone capable.

Closure; to Hughesnet: they suck, they are crooks, worst support ever, and I hope they get their balls sued off one day. Those no good dirty bastards! I see an end for them as these cell phones become more capable. People will catch on. Hughesnet should be scared. A lot of customers will learn to adapt to cell phone technology. As an alternative to broadband, cell-phone technology beats out the satellite service.
Thank you

Hughes net does stinks; I have been with them going on 2yrs now only because I have to get my moneys worth. I two have had the problems with claimed over usage of band width over 375 megs. I was gone for 2 weeks and in that time the satellite equipment was completely turned off and they claimed that I used up over 375 go figure.. when I got back and fired up my unit it was 35% slower than dial up, so I called and I was on for an 1 1/2 before they told me I had used up all my band width.. I have an IDEA lets all form a yahoo group and collaborates on a class action law suit.

I agree with everyone here....hughesnet is the biggest ripoff there ever was. I got sick and tired of all their damned restrictions and when I left on vacation...got home a week later...I had no service. I called their so called tech support (and I use the term loosely.....what a joke and bunch of losers they are)only to be told that they would have to send out a tech to realign the dish and this would take 3 to 5 days before I would get a call from the installer to set up an appointment and then it would probably be another week before they would send out a tech to do anything. This pissed me off to no ends....at least 2 weeks of no service at $80.00 a month was not acceptable and only to be hung up on several times by the losers at tech support and customer service. I was tired of calling in and screaming at the losers. Knowing they had my credit card hostage I was smart...I called in to my credit card company...reported the credit card as stolen and ordered a replacement credit card....then I called back to hughes and told them to stick it...I let them know I reported the credit card that that they had on file was stolen and let them try to bill to it....it will be a cold day in hell before they get another cent out of me. I currently have a fraud claim in process with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. Its funny, before I canceled my hughes account...the credit card they had on file for me and filed the reports with the above agencies....no one from hughes would call me back. They have now left several messages on my voice mail but I'll be damned if I am calling them back. I feel like I have finally ended this nightmare from hell and they can call go back to India where they belong. During this time I have never spoken with one person that could speak English or that I could understand. Just a word to the wise....if you feel like you only have hughes and must put up with it, I advise to just dump them...I like not being charged $80.00 a month for the lousiest service ever. I am better off with dialup service which is more reliable and at best...only $10.00 a month. Signed, much happier and better off without these losers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh... I have Hughes, and it's just pathetic. Right now I'm subject to FAP, because I've been web browsing too much today. I haven't been downloading ANY big files. Is a fair access policy really necessary to a $90 a month internet service?
Really though, web sites take forever to load, games are completely out of the question.

I wish there was anything else out there... I'm not getting DSL around here any time soon...

WOW!!! I thought I was the only driven to insanity by these crooks at HughesNet. This is crazy that a corporation can get away with screwing sooo many of their customers. My incredibly over-priced service never comes close to what they advertised, frequently goes out, and now I just found out about this FAP crap.... which I was never told about. The funny thing about that is... when i called "customer support/suppress" they told me I went over my download limit...but I was out of town for the holiday!!!...and yes...my wireless network is password protected. WHATS UP WITH THAT??? I have no alternative to this service for net access right now... THEY LOVE THAT. Anyways, without making terrorist threats against this company that are in my head...I will say that they suck. And as I now can see, I'm just one of the many.

You signed it, you should have read it, it states about the FAP which is not a 3 hour window either, it is a 24 hour window!

Quit crying about it, if you hate it so much go back to dial up.

I am still on it, been on it for 3 years, yeah it sucks shit, but what else do you have.

I have DSL coming in a few weeks, so I have served my time with them, now I am about done.

The CEO of any corporation is usually available on the "investors" page of their web site. Most corporations post the most recent annual report to stockholders and other investment information.

Now that I think of it, I don't know if HughesNet is a division of Hughes Tool Company or some other corporation.

It's 2009 and I am having FAP issues with this piece of garbage. I downloaded 3 small Word documents for school, then I let my son watch about 10 movies on YouTube. I was FAP'd and screwed over for 5 whole days. The speed never lifted. I called about it and they lied and said it just happened and they went ahead and lifted it. It happened again after about 6 hours. This is a rip-off and I wish I could do something about it. I don't want to pay their huge fees for getting out of a 2 year contract.

It took me two days and call after call but I have found service for my location that is less than half of what I’m paying and with no contacts, the company is called Skybeam goto www.skybeam.com

I signed up for Hughes Net in December 2009, I signed their 2 year contract. It worked for a short time, then I could not access the internet. Call after call to their promised 24 hour tech support, trying to figure out what these people were saying. Their English left a LOT to be desired. On to the high-up techs in Florida. Paul could speak English. It was NOT Hughes Net . . . it was my computer. It was not configured right! I even bought a new computer, because several techs said it was MY computer, NOT Hughes Net. No access there either. So it now sits in a box in the store room.
Now that I have not accessed the internet with Hughes Net since early February, I called and canceled Hughes Net. OK they said, but I must pay $400.00 for breaking the contract. I begged them to fix it. They would NOT come and fix it. I feel it was not I that broke the contract, but Hughes net. Connie

Note to Connie: Notify HughesNet that you are refusing to pay because they FAILED to provide the promised service. If they harass you, repeat the statement that they failed to provide service according to their contract, and offer to sue them for breach of contract and harassment. You don't have to pay for a service that wasn't provided.

I signed up for Huges Net in November 2009. 24 month contract now! That in itself should throw up red flags...if a service is good 12 month contracts should be plenty because if they are good...you will stay with them a long time. So, November thru February I had no problems. Then all of a sudden...problems, problems and more problems. Everytime I call to file a complaint it is recording, recording, recording telling you to do this, to do that. And, if you are not near your computer...the recording point blank hangs up on you. AND, YOU CANNOT GET AN AMERICAN SPEAKING PERSON!!!! Hughes net sucks...a$$! And, I had Wild Blue (12 month contract) and I had bought their equipment. But, when I wanted to go back to them they wanted like $150-250 to have a tech come out and reaim my dish. Then I had a DirectTv guy come out and he highly recommended HughesNet. He said he installed both and had less complaints with Hughes Net. I bought Hughes Net equipment too (over $300). I always buy the equipment because my intention is to stay. I always believe what these a$$e$ tell me. So, the latest is...my computer is old and that is the problem. I called today to let them know that I have ordered a new laptop with a dual processor. And, I told them that if this doesn't make this shit load they can take their contract and shove it! I am sick of the economy sucking a$$ and these companies trying to pretend that there are no changes. I could care less if they turn me over to collection. I will send copies of my phone bills, the screen prints that show I don't have a connection, etc. I have upgraded my plan once. I have a friend that has Hughes Net...says she loves it. Runs 3 computers at the same time on it...she pays $119.99 per month! I sure don't have that for internet...that is what most phone companies charge for phone, cable tv and internet! Oh, and Hughes Net has informed me that when something is trying to load but cannot...it is using up my download time. I too have been told that I had run out of time when they showed usage...I wasn't home either! They tried to say someone was using my connection. I live way off the road and have trees between me and any house. Nobody can see my house. ANd, nobody is sitting in my damn driveway. Someone needs to stop this company and the crap it pulls. Is there a commission that oversees this kind of thing that we can file a complaint with? Teresa :( #1 Huges Net Sucks Butt Fan!

He said I am sorry that is impossible, I will speak slower. I live in America, I took out an American contract, I want to speak to an American, asshole hughesnet!

ONGOING problem that Hughesnet will not not fix.
ANOTHER Email I sent HughesNet

This is a bunch of crap and I'm getting angry!!!!!!!!! http://consumer.performancetests.hughesnet.com/
IT said Download Time 38.3 seconds

That is a BUNCH of CRAP! It took me OVER 4 minutes for that page to open, NOT 38.3 seconds!! DO you have it rigged????????? I am not stupid and I sat and timed this!!!! I don't know if the dish needs to lined up again or if this stupid HN9000 is bad but I can NOT sit here for 10 minutes each time I want to send an email or get online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meanwhile Hughesnet does nothing but give me the runaround. I finally broke down and tried to call Hughesnet AGAIN. I got someone who I could NOT understand. I requested someone who spoke good English and was told NO, that can't be done! What the heck?????????????? My dial up was faster because at least pages actually opened! I sit here and get error message saying I am not connected to the web and my hughesnet status meter constantly gives me pop up saying I'm not connected! I don't understand WHY you don't do service calls considering you are taking 82.00 each month for something I'm not able to use much because of the time it takes for anything to open. I will NOT pay for a service call but I will fill out a form on the Better Business Bureau and add my comments to the THOUSANDS OF OTHERS ONLINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SORRY SERVICE! I am willing to bet future customers will be happy to know before they sign up how I am paying this each month and have to go borrow my daughters computer to get online to pay my bills!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE SOMEONE DOES A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST HUGHESNET BECAUSE I WILL GLADLY JOIN! Our contract is almost up we would have stayed with Hughesnet but we will NOT continue to pay for a service that doesn't fix customer problems! By the way, I'm at my daughter's house using her computer because I can't get anything to open on mine!

I lost faith long ago because you lie to customers! Each time I have given a different story and the lack of concern and customer service you offer is beyond horrible.

They oversold capacity and are providing no where near purchased plan speeds AND deduct fake usage against you (I have unplugged it for a day -checked usage and had usage shown in hours was unplugged!) as well as red flag peoples speeds who actually use near what the mb allotance of their plan is!

10 am onto 10pm - 150-160kbps tops on a 1.5 MEG plan

10-12 = 850 -1200 on a 1 meg -agreeable.

1-3 (free time) 720 (used to be 1440) then from 3-10 (free time ending at 6/7 central/east) you get 1200-1440.

Prime use time like they say it is doesn't work like the almost clockwork cutting they got going on. They got a system in place to cut speeds like a clock regardless. New satellites won't fix it - they will over sell and bastardize those too (look at what they did with 9000 plans from 7000 - more money and LESS!)

+ The contract is a rip off not like all are but what they do is

- Give new customers grace time free from all this. They actually get above plan speed for the first month or so and get a short grace period of infinite allotance - why?
You have to cancel within like a month to not be subject to 300$+ contract penalties. Once the month ends where you can cancel - so does getting what you pay for.

the new "tokens" shows a look at what they care for. charging you more and more for lousy mb packages. their very own cell phone type of overages to bring in more money. if it is profitable it will NEVER be right.

Avoid. Hate. Hurt in every opportunity. Pray for cable or dsl.

I hope they get picked out by some cyber vigilantes that crash their satellites into each other or something for the lulz that way at least the new people stuck in contract will have a way around their iron clad legals and can sue and finally break this rotten beast.

All utilities are greedy and evil - these people aren't ashamed to piss on you and call it rain.

I never hated a company so so much.

Hughesnet god damn sucks. I've had it for around a year and I have to say it is TERRIBLE. The worst I have EVER had. I wish somebody would sue their god damn motherfucking asses off for their poor services, and when you call for support, you talk to a bunch of fuck tards who don't know a damn thing about the internet or how to fix it. I have literally given myself blood pressure issues over my anger with this internet. Sometimes my download percentage decreases like 20% when I'm not fucking home and my computer is off. And the fact that it's not unlimited is a JOKE. You can pay half of what Hughesnet costs on other services and get unlimited amounts of downloads.

What makes me even more upset. About an 1/8th of a mile down the road. Cable internet is there, but the cable internet will not come 1/8 mile further to service about 6 houses in a pod. It's ridiculous. I feel like I'm being cheated from all angles and no one can do anything about it. I just want to cry honestly.

Yes, everything that everyone has said here is true. It's difficult to imagine a company being this bad without purposely trying to be... like they are sadistic or something. It works, I estimate, about 5 to 10% of the time (unless you don't sleep), and after that it is so slow that it is not only useless but frustrating as hell... I mean, just loading basic web pages. Their services is outdated by about 15 years, and evry other thing about the company is just as useless as its service, like its being run from some meth-head's basement.

I can almost understand the "FAP", however, what I cannot understand is why I have to pay 90 dollars a month for 15 GBS when other internet providers, like Shantel, offer their customers 250 GBS a month for a much lower fee. Hughesnet not only sucks, they're greedy. This is one corporation I'd love to see go bankrupt. I live in an area where Hughesnet is the only internet offered, and I've been with them for 10 years, and for 10 years, they have sucked.

My threshold refills every first of the month at midnight. I have literally unhooked wifi, and only had my Hughesnet homepage pulled up, and watched my threshold go down. I've actually did this more than once. I have even recorded this, and I am convinced that Hughesnet tampers with the threshold.

I have two children in my home, and they cannot enjoy things like downloading apps, watching videos, or listening to music. If they want an app downloaded on their iPads, they have to write the name of the app on a Post-It so I can download it after 2am - If I'm even awake at that hour, usually I am not. My son cannot hook his PS4 up to the internet and play with his friends, neither of my children can use Facetime, Snapchat, or anything else their peers are using, and it pisses me off to no end.

I'm sitting and waiting for any other Internet Provider to come to my area, and when they do, I will happily tell Hughesnet to go straight to hell. . . and might I add, they are NOT getting their equipment back. I'm keeping it as a personal reminder of a glimpse into hell.

Signed,
One Pissed of Mama
